For the FRC Robotics team we have been using Mattermost to communicate with the team. This is our second year running Mattermost and the tool has helped us communicate more effectively as a team. Using Mattermost we can now have realtime conversations with the team. I wanted to take a minute to introduce you to Mattermost.
Mattermost is an open source alternate to Slack, which is a team collaboration software. Mattermost offers instant communication through channels that help organize the various conversations. There is a Mattermost app for all mobile devices, Mac PCs, and Windows PCs. Through the app you can be instantly notified when mentioned in a conversation. Using webhooks we can also integrate information coming from other systems like Github directly into Mattermost. The system can be self-hosted at DA, and it doesn’t come with the large fees of Slack.
