The latest version of macOS, named Monterey, has been released by Apple.
In the past, our department paused these updates from being sent to you until we can properly vet it to work with all our core software. Apple has now made it impossible to hold back these updates before they reach you.
Currently, we are installing and testing Monterey internally. We are making sure that applications like Teams, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, printing, etc work with Monterey.
For now, we highly recommend you do not install the update. Historically we have seen major problems with the first released version of macOS. There is a likely chance you will run into problems if you update.
We will let you know once the software has been approved by OIT. Look for more information in the next week.
Update: We now approve the Monterey OS to be installed on all devices. It is not yet required, but we do highly recommend updating when possible.
The Monterey is currently an optional update and will appear in the Software Update preferences pane. When looking at updates for your laptop it is possible to think that Monterey is the only update available. To see updates that are required, click the blue more info link.
