Screen Lock Now Required on MacBooks

As a continuation of ramping up security, today we are announcing that the screen lock for all computers will now be required.

What does this mean?

Just as you should never leave your home or car unlocked, you should never leave your laptop unlocked.  This grants anyone with physical access to your computer access to personal data.  Since many people also save passwords in web browsers, then you have also granted that person access to those websites.  This could allow anyone unauthorized access to Veracross, Outlook, ADP, banking websites, social media, eCommerce sites, etc.  Have you read about Multi Factor Authentication yet?

Anytime your laptop wakes up from sleep or from screensaver you will now be required to enter your password to unlock the computer.

This also means your laptop will now have a preset timer for the screensaver of 1 hour.  It is also worth noting that any changes to the power settings will get reset daily as well.

As always, please login to http://support.da.org for questions.

** BONUS: Did anyone else notice on the stock photo above that the coffee cup was far to close to the laptop?
